A mail recipient critiques CBA’s creative

CBA has been in the business of helping others via direct marketing for over 32 years. We often receive praise and criticism from the organizations we partner with. But I don’t remember ever being critiqued by a member/donor who received our mail piece.

Pat Callahan, Director of Membership at AZPM Tucson (formerly KUAT), passed along notes written on our December ‘08 special appeal letter from one of her members.

Read Pat’s email to us (below), followed by the comments of her valued (and opinionated) supporter.

Pat Callahan’s email to CBA:

Attached is a copy of a mail piece that came back from a donor.   Just to tweak your interest, there’s a wonderful story associated with this comment.  A year ago, this gentleman sent Jack Gibson, Director and General Manager, a piece of mail from KUAT that went out in December. He had edited the letter pointing out misspellings, poor grammar, etc., etc.

Well, he called the donor and told him he was right and that we would get better.  This story was also related to me when I was being interviewed for the job in the spring.  I never forgot the story.

When I showed Jack the recent piece the member sent, he said that this is the man who wrote to me last year.

You can hardly imagine (no, maybe you can) my delight and thankfulness for your good work.  Especially since the member worked (now retired to Tucson) at the New York Times as an editor.

Thank you for being all that you are – a professional organization I am proud to be associated with.
